Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Monday said the Centre had sanctioned Rs 150 crore for a new sewage network at Vaddem and New Vaddem areas of Dabolim constituency.
He was speaking along the sidelines of a function to launch work to lay pavers in Wards 22 and 23 at an estimated cost of Rs 21 lakh.
Godinho informed reporters floods were not witnessed despite the intense monsoon rains in Dabolim constituency as works were done on gutters, but said he planned
to improve the drainage system with gutters on both sides of road.
“I have received complaints that some residents are letting out sewage through gutters and some other localities have had to face the brunt. Very soon, a sewage network will also be taken up at New Vaddem and Vaddem. The proposal has already been passed and we have got a sanction of Rs 150 crore from the Centre. We will soon implement the project,” he said.
